Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Hey guys, i just recieved a call from Sephy that my TLR 22 just arrived at my local main dealer Nitro4u.
In this thread i will post the complete build of this awesome 2wd buggy, with some tips that i've seen on different pages in the internet.
Things i will use in this buggy:
Nosram Pearl Evo ESC
Nosram Pure Evo 8.5T
Savöx Servo
2s Yountong 5000mAh Lipo
This rig will be controlled with my good old Sanwa M11 + 2,4 Ghz module!
So stay tuned for a nice buildup thread I will build it over the weekend, write everything down and post it on Tuesday next week, because I'm in lower Austria during easter!
gretings Steakjunky!

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Well, that explains the delay - ordering it from a nitro-dealer (Nitro4u)
Do you think you've got the talent to be able to assemble it, or follow the instruction pictures?
Just joking my friend, enjoy - and look forward to your end result.

Yeah, i know, i'm not quiet sure, how he gets all the electric stuff.... Hmmm strange... seems like magic!

Phuuuu normaly these cars are for people who are 14+ years old, so i think i can handle it, but i have to wear all the safty equipement like gloves, safety glasses and all that stuff But i will ask my parents to be sure i'm allowed to build this kit even i'm 22 years old hehehehe you see? I'm 22 years old (since january) and i've bought a TLR 22! THAT'S A SIGN WUHUUUUUUU

Yeah, I have some great plans for this build, i hope i can make my ideas become reality! And thanks a lot dude, I'm rally lookin forward to this awesome buggy
Stay tuned!
All the best,

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Hey guys... the wait is nearly over
I just finished bag "E" and bag "D" is waiting to get done and i hope you all know what the "D" stands for i only say: 12mm in diameter hrhrhrhrhr
When the whole TLR22 is finished the thread will START immediately, with a lot of pictures and a little special i've made, which took the most time of the build
The whole car is just AWESOME and i really can't wait to drive this rig for the first time at my local track!
So, stay tuned

Start!
Here we go guys!
The thread starts NOW!
I will start with the box.... this is one of the nicest boxes i've ever seen.
A mat-black hull with glossy "TLR" and "22" logo on it.
When you slide the box out of the hull, you have the same her: mat-black box with a glossy buggy on it
Open the box and you will see a lot of bags: A, B, C, D, E and F!
But who cares about the bags when you want to know how the build of this awesome buggy is!
Bag A
The complete frontend!
Steering, suspension arms, tierods, shocktower.
You start with putting the servo and the sidebraces on the chassis, this is quiet easy and then you see the steering rack. It's a slide type steering and there's nothing it can be compared with. It's not like the normal steering systems you see on other cars where everything runs on ballbearings....
Then you have to install the steering rack and the camber block on the bulkhead and then everything with the pivot plate and the 20° kick up on the chassis. Also very easy to do!
Build the spindle and carrier asembly, put it on the front suspension arms and you are ready to install it on the chassis!
Then there comes the part i hat on EVERY kit.... the TIERODS.. htey were a pain to assembly but with a pair of pliers.... i've made it!
Install the camber and steering tierods, the front shocktower (which is very beefy) and the front bumper and your front end is finished!
Everything moves free and that's very important on every kit you are building

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Bag B
Drive shafts, hubs suspension arms, camber blocks, battery tray, shock tower, tie rods.
In this bag, you find the first parts to build the rear motor and mid motor configuration!
I've chosen the rear motor version first, because i think this one will work best at my local track... so here we go!
First you have to build the cvds... nothing very special here, but a 12mm hex for the wheels. The hub carrier has a lot mounting locations for the ballstud, to adjust the rollcenter. The pins on the hub are using c-clips... i hope these are holding well, but Losi hase some threadet pins as option parts....
The hingepins on the suspension arms are moving on hardened balls which are moving in aluminium parts, so these parts will hold up nearly any abuse you can throw at them.
The battery tray (or hold down) and the camber black are installed with some screws. I have to mention, that the plastic that Losi is using is very very hard and strong, so i think you can keep spareparts to a minimum. Then mount the shocktower and the tierods and bag B is finished!
Here you can see the whole chassis form the bottom. Everything is flat, very screw is countersunk.... i think, this is the perfect buggy

Bag C
Transimssion,....
So here we go, the transmission.
In this bag you again get vereything to build the rear-, and mid motor transmission. So all the gars and the 2 different cases are includet!
You start with the ball differential... nothing special here.. 14 diff-balls, 2 diff-rings, ball bearings, thrust bearing and the two steel diffhalves.
Screw all this together and you'll a very smooth running diff!
Then take the transimssion case halves, mount the motor plate on one side, put the bearings and the gears in it, screw the halves together, attach the spur gear and the slipper and finally the gear cover (which has a little hole on the side to adjust the slipper. the hole can be covered) and you will get this:
Mount it on the chassis with the wing mounts and you've finished bag C!

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Bag D.... i hate building dampers...
but these were AWESOME
12mm big bores, super smooth... do i have to say more? These were the best ones i've ever built!
So here we go!
The aluminium bodys were perfectly machined and hardcoated. Insert the o-rings and spacers in the bottom and screw the bottom-cap on (made of aluminium).
Put the #55 pistons und the shock shafts and clip the e-clips into place. Push the shafts through the bottom of the shock, fill them, bleed them, adjust preload and you're ready to go!
Tip: I've used Team Associated Green Slime on the o-rings, for a better seal, to prevent leaking.
Ive seen a TLR-Tip where the teamdrivers are cutting the bladders so they only have a o-ring in the top-cap, but i haven't done this mod. I want to try the original setup first!
Install the shock-springs and all four shocks on the chassis and you are finished with bag D!

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
Bag E
Battery brace, whels, bodyclips, antenna.
Really nothing special here, just mount everything und youve finished the chassis
There is also a bag F, with different pistons, different kuck-up plate, shims and different anty-squat plates for the rear end, so you have got nearly everything to tune your TLR22
Final conclusion for now:
So, the build of the TLR 22 was awesome. You get everything needed to build the rear- and mid motor setup. The buggy looks awesome, the quality of the parts is perfekt, everything fitted perfectly, all the plastic parts are beefy so the should hold up very well and so the list for spare parts will be very short. The overall finish and quality of all the aluminium parts is perfect. What i really liked about the kit is, that you don't get any tires, but TWO complete sets of wheels, so you can choose the tires for your own, or in my case, the tires i have to use on my track because of the ÖFMAV rules.
I will also test the mid-motor configuration, but first i want to see how it drives with the rear-motor setup. I will also post some complete setups.
I will paint the body and install the esc and motor very soon.
So stay tuned for the first rollout

Re: Steakjunky's TLR 22 Racebuggy buildup!
