ALL NEW Team Losi 22 - time to trade in your 2wd buggies
"The Team Losi Racing 1/10-scale 22 2WD Electric Race Buggy Kit is an entirely new racing platform. Without a doubt, it will reignite 1/10-scale electric racing throughout the world. The TLR 22s innovative design takes full advantage of envelope-pushing Li-Po and brushless power. It is the only platform of its kind to offer all the hardware needed in a single kit to build a rear- or mid-motor configured chassis. The 22 is about to change all the rules."
~ From what I've read about this new buggy, it's allowing the use of both mid- and rear-motor options (mid you need to run saddle-style battery packs, while the rear you can use all your current stick-style packs), and two different gearboxes (3-gear, and 4-gear) depending on your preference.
http://www.tlracing.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdId=TLR0022
1. Mid- and Rear-Motor Option - 2. 2.5mm Hard Anodized Aluminum Chassis - 3. Adjustable Caster via the Spindle (0, 3, 5, 10) - 4. 12mm Big Bore Aluminum Shock with Bladder Compensator - 5. Adjustable Front Kick via Shims - 6. All-Metric Hardware - 7. Adjustable Spindle Carrier (Inline or Trailing) - 8. Gull Wing Suspension Arm Design (Front and Rear) - 9. Wide Range or Rear Toe Adjustability - 10. Optimized Motor Placement for Balance - 11. Simple Repair Bolt-On Camber Blocks - 12. Innovative Steering Rack Design - 13. 3.5mm Heavy-Duty Turnbuckles - 14. Long-Life Titanium Nitrated Hinge Pins - 15. Vertical Mounted Ball Studs - 16. Optimized Battery Tray to Use Future Battery Technology - 17. Dual Disk Slipper Clutch - 18. Secure Battery Straps

(wheelbase has been "stretched" to the new ROAR rules as well)

Thanks for the post dude!
But i allready posted it in the "News" area
Maybe we can use this thread as an "info"-thread if someone of us buy one of this beauty
It looks realy awesome, even better than the Schumacher Cougar SV. Price is also ok!
Retail Price: $409.99
Available For: $269.99*
Lets see how much it will be here in europe and when it will be available here
I really like the option to mount the motor in front and behint the rear axle, so you can finetune it for every trackcondition

Yeah - I don't understand either................ but Losi has two different websites -
http://www.losi.com/
http://www.tlracing.com/
- and I guess one is for their bashers and RTR customers and the other is for their racers. I don't know for sure.
EDIT = the 22 just (finally) got listed on the regular Losi website - but they referenced the tlracing website in the pop-up.

Re: ALL NEW Team Losi 22 - time to trade in your 2wd buggies
i think tlracing.com is a new website from losi to represent their racing line of cars i really like it, so the image of losi will get better, as the moste people say that losi isn't able to produce high quality electronik racing cars, since they were bought by horizon hobby but now everything will get better new racing car, new website only for the high quality racing cars...... i want a losi 22 buggy NOW

Yeah - after starting this thread I noticed your post (MINE HAS MORE PICS ) in the News section - but you only got yours up first because you guys over in Europe are awake 6-8 hours before any of us here in the U.S.A. could have seen it since we were still asleep when the official announcement was made at Midnight (12 am) U.S. time.
I already "backordered" mine with Horizon Hobby, so maybe I'll be the first to get it.
I had been wanting to order a new buggy, for the upcoming start of the outdoor season next summer - and almost bought a schumacher, after almost buying an X6-squared, and had thought about a B4.1 or a RB5sp.
Now I'm glad I waited.
And yes, I agree, this thread will probably do better for discussing the car........... once people start getting their hands on them.
Yes - I am also really happy to see the motor mounting option. From what I've read on one of the US-forums, where the Team Losi drivers post - they have been doing all their early testing with the rear-engine version, and have said it works really well, and have said the team's Europe-based drivers have been using the mid-engine version and like it as well.
I just like the option, and have been of the mind that with the change to LiPO/BL that having a mid-engined car is of a real advantage in trying to get the car set up correctly. The old rear-engine design worked will with heavy NiMH/NiCAD batteries, and really the only way a 2wd would work well, but with the loss of so much weight due to LiPO batteries I think it is where the mid-engine platform is going to prove far superior.
I think everybody that jumped and bought a B4.1 is now going to end up kicking themselves.

RELEASE DATE
According to what I was reading on a US-forum, the release date for the all-new Losi 22 is not supposed to be until mid-January 2011.
I can't wait............ already plunked down my $269.99 as a "backorder" this morning with Horizon (US-distributor).
This car is going to be awesome.

I will, I'll make sure and post here before anywhere else.
Steakjunky schrieb:what's the release date @ horizon hobby USA??
Since Horizon "owns" Losi, if they say "mid January" I trust that it is accurate.
Steakjunky schrieb:i was also thinking to get a schumacher couger sv but now, i think everything has changed UUUUUUUUUUYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh
I was too, and I a quite happy that I put off my decision.
I was actually going to order a Shuey last summer, but they were having so many teething problems with the tranny and things that I decided to wait until they got it all sorted out. Then the outdoor season ended, so I thought I'd put off buying one to let my wife purchase me one for Christmas. So I am glad I waited, as this new 22 looks so far superior to everything on the market -- as you said, "everything has changed."

I've driven an X6 also, but I was never thrilled with Associated cars (and the cars used a lot of B4 parts) - and the XFactory conversions just seemed so cobbled-together, no offense, but having to buy parts two seperate places just didn't thrill me. That, and it seemed like every month or so they were making some kind of running change/update to the cars to keep them from breaking.
Steakjunky schrieb:the b4.1 is also a great car, i drove a b4 for 3 seasons but because of the lipos the mid motor cars work better, i think
Yes, Associated makes fine cars - I just haven't been too thrilled with them since they sold out to the Japanese (Thunder Tiger owns AE). I guess it wouldn't bother me as much if they didn't propose themselves as a US-company, I really don't care where I buy something from or who owns it, but it just seems like they're trying to put themselves over as a US-company when they're not instead of just saying they're Japanese like Kyosho.
Steakjunky schrieb:mid january?? so i think we will get it in march or so
You guys might have to wait until mid-March (or later), but I feel pretty confident I'll have mine some time in January.
Maybe if you're nice to your new friend in the USA, he'll send you one over sooner than March.

i know that Schumacher had some gear issues with the cougar sv but the problem is solved since months but the Cougar is still a veeery nice car but the Losi 22 is SEX on two 4 wheels:shockt:
yes, the X6 looks like something weld together or so, but it works just fine, when you how to drive it and set it up. i've never broken a part of this car and i have nearly enough spare parts to build up a 2nd one but i won't. this winter will be the last season for my X6.....rocketrob schrieb:

Yes, the Schuie is a very fine car.
It was just a shame that they kind of ignored a manufacturing problem, and let the kits go out.
I was all ready to jump on one last spring, and then saw the concerns of others and I just held off waiting - a wait that inevitably caused me not to order one in a prompt manner. I still might get one to run indoors, but I think I'm going to invest my Christmas gift into that damn-sexy-losi-beast.

On, I know it "works fine" - and it's a nice product for what it is. It's just that it looks kind of "clunky" (don't know if there's a word in German to describe that), kind of like wearing a set of combat boots, and it irked me that it relied on so many Associated parts - yet the guys running them insisted they were an entirely different car.
It's like when that TC02C buggy came out last month, all the XFactory devotees all started making a fuss saying it was a clone of their car - their car that had VERY few XFactory parts on them.
Steakjunky schrieb:oooh let me hug you you'll become my beeest friend of the world i have too look for the shipping taxes and so on i would appreciate that, if you would be so kind to send me one over
Let's not get carried away there my friend - wait until I can get my hands on one to send you. Other than shipping costs, which shouldn't be too bad, I think we can get around any duty or taxes by me unboxing it (from the factory container) and then sending it to you marked on the Customs Forms as a "Gift." At least that's what I've done before for some of my friends in the UK.

Impressive first outing.

Team Losi Racing driver Dustin Evan's TQ'd the 2WD Modified Buggy class with the new Team Losi Racing 22 at the 2010 Spektrum Off-road Championship last week and went on to take the title, winning the first two A-main segments, for the overall victory. Dustin also TQ'd the Modified SCT class with his XXX-SCT as well. Matt Chambers TQ'd the 2WD Modified Truck class with the XXX-T CR and would go on the win the A-main, making it a sweep of the 2wd classes for Team Losi Racing.

Still waiting for yours....really.......why?
They were available in Europe almost a month before the U.S. dealers got their supply.
The "quality" of the pieces contained in the kit are, IMHO, second to none - as is fit and finish.
The "quality" of the design, IMHO, is truly ground-breaking - as good as promised, and (again) second to none.
The "build" went effortlessly, for a kit (as with all kits, if it's your first time building that model) are a bit of an adventure - but nothing really unexpected for an experienced builder. The instructions sheet is very comprehensive with detailed pictures and diagrams.
There are about a zillion screws needed to assemble it, so a quality 2mm hex driver is needed, and more total screws than any other 1/10th buggy I've ever assembled - but it still is quite "modular," so major bits come apart in chunks that will make later repairs pretty easy to accomplish.
Overall - this has got to have the beefiest parts (suspension arms and shocks) of any 1/10th scale car or truck I have ever come across, and it's my guess it will be just as at home on a larger 1/8th scale track as it will be on any 1/10th scale track .... all but bulletproof.

I really don't have plans on having any spares, other than maybe steering knuckles.
And I don't think you could break one of the suspension arms if you dropped the car off a 10-story building.
Only real plans I have is to upgrade the diff to ceramic diff balls.
